My name is Rianne and I’m a marine biologist working for Thanda Island since 2017. I’m originally from the Netherlands and did my masters in Biology at Wageningen University. During my masters I specialized in marine biology and my last internship I did with the Reefolution Foundation in Kenya. Here I got into reef restoration and made some contacts that brought me to Tanzania after I graduated. As the marine biologist at Thanda Island I’m involved in monitoring the reefs of the private marine reserve, educate guests and take them snorkeling and I run a small reef restoration project. I’m very excited to team up with the Ropes of Hope so we can share our knowledge, skills and experience on reef restoration. It’s just amazing to be able to work together with other reef enthusiasts and the aim is to upscale our restoration efforts and really make a difference!
